The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul closed the day with a 0.12 percent gain at 9,486.56 points. The index showed an increase of 11.60 points compared to the previous close, and the total trading volume was recorded at 28 billion liras.
When examined on a sectoral basis, the information technology sector was the top gainer with 1.96 percent, while the financial leasing and factoring sector stood out as the biggest loser with 2.40 percent. The banking index lost 0.21 percent, and the holding index lost 0.03 percent.
Due to it being the eve of the holiday, trading on the stock exchange continued until 12:30 PM, followed by a closing session. Global markets followed a mixed course as customs tariffs in the US and signals from the labor market increased risks to growth. The European Central Bank's (ECB) interest rate decision was also in the focus of the markets. The ECB is expected to cut interest rates by 25 basis points.
Analysts state that the statements of ECB President Christine Lagarde could provide clues about the bank's future policies. Domestic markets will be closed tomorrow due to the Eid al-Adha holiday, but non-farm payroll data in the US and growth figures from the Eurozone will be monitored.
