Breaking News... Flat-rate pay raise for high-level public official that sparked major backlash has been withdrawn!

The proposal for a 30 thousand TL flat-rate pay raise for high-level public officials and expert personnel, submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) by the AKP, sparked a major debate. However, following harsh reactions, the proposal was withdrawn.

THE RAISE PROPOSAL HAD BEEN SUBMITTED TO PARLIAMENT

The regulation in question was planned to be moved to the General Assembly along with the Tax Package after passing through the commission before being submitted to the TBMM. A large number of public officials were expected to benefit from the 30 thousand TL increase. However, due to the broad scope of the proposal and the discomfort it caused in public opinion, the planned regulation was withdrawn.

WITHDRAWN UPON PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN'S INSTRUCTION

Following a meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, and AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, it was decided to withdraw the flat-rate pay raise proposal.
