Central Bank announces interest rate decision: Held steady at 50 percent
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey has kept the policy rate unchanged at 50 percent, in line with expectations.
The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) has announced its interest rate decision for July. As expected, interest rates were held steady at 50%.
The Central Bank had raised interest rates by a total of 4,150 basis points over 9 meetings, with 650 in June, 250 in July, 750 in August, 500 each in September, October, and November, 250 each in December and January, and 500 basis points in March. The bank did not change interest rates in February, April, May, June, and July.
The next meeting of the TCMB will be held on September 19.
