Central Bank grants operating license to new electronic money institution

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey has approved Sağlam Ödeme ve Elektronik Para Hizmetleri A.Ş. to operate as an electronic money institution. With this decision, the company will now be able to issue electronic money in addition to providing payment services.

Central Bank grants operating license to new electronic money institution

A decision taken by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) was published in the Official Gazette today. With this decision, official authorization has been granted for Sağlam Ödeme ve Elektronik Para Hizmetleri Anonim Şirketi to operate as an electronic money institution.

In the statement published in the Official Gazette, it was announced that as a result of the evaluation conducted within the scope of the Law No. 6493 on Payment and Securities Settlement Systems, Payment Services and Electronic Money Institutions dated June 20, 2013, the company has been authorized to provide the specified payment services and electronic money issuance services.

The decision included the following statements:

"As a result of the evaluation conducted within the scope of Articles 14, 15, 18, and 19 of the Law No. 6493 on Payment and Securities Settlement Systems, Payment Services and Electronic Money Institutions (the Law) dated 20/6/2013; it has been decided to grant an operating license to Sağlam Ödeme ve Elektronik Para Hizmetleri A.Ş. as an electronic money institution to provide the payment services specified in clauses (a), (b), (c), (ç), (e), (f), and (g) of the first paragraph of Article 12 of the Law, and the electronic money issuance service specified in the second paragraph of Article 18 of the Law."

Following this decision, the company in question will now be able to operate in both the fields of payment services and electronic money issuance.
