Central Bank to announce interest rate decision today: Economists divided on predictions this time!

The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) will share the Monetary Policy Committee's (PPK) interest rate decision for June with the public today at 14:00.

MOST ECONOMISTS EXPECT RATES TO REMAIN UNCHANGED

Of the 23 economists who participated in the expectation survey conducted by Anadolu Agency, 19 predict that the policy rate will remain at its current level, which is 46 percent.

According to the survey, two economists believe there could be a 100 basis point rate cut, one economist expects a 150 basis point cut, and another suggests a 350 basis point cut.

The median of the participants' year-end policy rate forecasts was calculated at 35.50 percent.

As is known, the Central Bank increased the policy rate by 350 basis points to 46 percent at its meeting in April. This increase marked the first rate hike in approximately one year.
