Cevdet Yılmaz makes statement on retirement age

Regarding the government's perspective on poverty, Vice President Yılmaz stated, “We have a 3-level perspective. At the very top, we have our macro policies; ensuring price stability, growth, and employment. If you do not do these, you cannot reduce poverty anyway.

Those macro policies, your growth and employment policies, and also your policies aimed at price stability, form the macro framework of the fight against poverty. The second level, which we call the medium level, is sectoral policies that reduce poverty.

Education comes first; creating equal opportunity, preventing poverty from reproducing itself, and health policies are the same. Our policies aimed at rural areas, especially KÖYDES, our SME policies, and our regional development policies all form the sectoral part of our policy to fight poverty. Turkey has solved the problem of absolute poverty; this is an important achievement,” he said.

STATEMENT ON FOREIGN EMPLOYMENT

In response to questions such as “Is there a need for foreign employment, have you identified this?”, Yılmaz replied, “We see that among our citizens—we see this in construction, in manufacturing, and in mining—the desire to work in more challenging environments is decreasing.

I think this is an issue related to the development process; perhaps the same processes were experienced in Europe in the past, workers from our country went to Europe, and we are experiencing similar processes.

We need to see these realities; we cannot close our eyes to them. It is debatable how much the increase in the number of universities has affected this, and we can also discuss how reaching a certain level of income affects it,” he responded.

“REGARDING RAISING THE RETIREMENT AGE...”

Stating that they do not have an agenda to “raise the age” regarding retirement, Yılmaz declared, “Currently, we do not have such a study.”

Regarding the issue of school meals for children, Yılmaz said, “I remember it as 2 million.”
