CHP Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır announces new proposal for retirees
CHP Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır has proposed that retirees be given a bonus equal to the minimum wage.
CHP Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır, speaking at a press conference in Parliament, pointed to Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan's statements regarding year-end inflation forecasts and said, "He himself knows that this forecast will not hold."
Başarır stated, "You set the minimum wage at 17 thousand 2 liras just recently, but since that day, the minimum wage has fallen to 15 thousand 934 liras. We set the lowest pension at 10 thousand liras, and not even a month has passed, we see that it has dropped to 9 thousand 372 liras."
CHP's Başarır commented, "In other words, there is a government in Turkey that cannot manage the economy, and if it continues like this, we will see another Central Bank Governor in a short time."
ANNOUNCED CHP'S PROPOSAL
Touching upon the debates regarding the retirement bonus, Başarır proposed, "We said, come on, let the lowest pension be the minimum wage, and give retirees a bonus at the rate of the minimum wage."
