CHP's Yavuzyılmaz criticizes Osmangazi Bridge: Public money flows to companies under the guise of traffic guarantees
CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz stated that the payments made under the Build-Operate-Transfer model for the Osmangazi Bridge place a heavy burden on the national budget, and he continues to expose the AKP government's corruption with documents.
CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz once again brought the details of traffic guarantees and Treasury payments for the Osmangazi Bridge to the agenda in a post on his social media account.
Stating that the contract provisions for the bridge, which is operated under the Build-Operate-Transfer model, are far from transparent, Yavuzyılmaz continues to reveal all the corruption of the AKP government in recent years with documents.
Yavuzyılmaz announced that for the year 2025, a traffic guarantee of 14 million 600 thousand vehicles was provided for the Osmangazi Bridge, and the actual number of vehicles crossing the bridge in the same year reached 20 million 732 thousand. However, Yavuzyılmaz emphasized that despite exceeding the guaranteed number of crossings, a payment of 505 million dollars was made to the relevant company from the Treasury, pointing out that this amount corresponds to approximately 22 billion TL at the current exchange rate.
Stating that under the contract, 35 dollars + VAT per vehicle is guaranteed to the companies, and that this amount is increased every year according to the US Consumer Price Index, Yavuzyılmaz noted that the public budget is increasingly under a heavy burden.
THE TREASURY PAYS THE 1,435 LIRA DIFFERENCE PER CROSSING
According to Yavuzyılmaz's documents, as of 2026, the guaranteed fee per vehicle crossing has risen to 56.5 dollars, including VAT. This fee corresponds to approximately 2,430 TL in Turkish Lira. During the same period, since the toll collected from drivers is 995 TL, the difference of 1,435 TL is covered directly by the Treasury.
The fact that CHP's Yavuzyılmaz shared tables and documents with the public, including CİMER applications, Court of Accounts reports, and details of Osmangazi Bridge toll tariffs, has reignited debates regarding build-operate-transfer projects.
Deniz Yavuzyılmaz's detailed explanations and document-based challenges are leading to increased demands for more transparency and oversight regarding the use of public resources in recent times. In particular, the scale of the financial burden on the public in mega-projects with traffic guarantees is becoming one of the most important topics on the political agenda.
