Claims emerge that German government will not be able to finalize 2024 budget before year-end

A senior official stated that the German government will not be able to finalize the 2024 budget before the end of the year. German Finance Minister Christian Lindner, however, said, "But this is not a crisis."

Speaking in Brussels, Lindner said, "I have noticed that the coalition partners have very ambitious schedules."

In Germany, negotiations are focused on whether to suspend the net new borrowing limit for next year to close the 17 billion euro budget deficit, while industrial projects, climate policy, and welfare spending remain in uncertainty.

Lindner stated, "The work is not yet fully completed." Negotiations between the three coalition leaders will continue on Friday.
