Claims of a 'raise for the lowest pension': Here is the new figure to be presented to Erdoğan

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared 2024 the Year of the Retiree, yet millions of retirees have been condemned to poverty-level wages.

The 24.73% raise granted to SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in the previous period did not reflect on the pensions of those receiving less than 10,000 TL. This situation has sparked a reaction from millions of retirees.

CLAIMS THAT THE LOWEST PENSION WILL BE 12,000 TL

Following this, it has been suggested that the AKP's economic team has begun work to increase the lowest pension. According to a report in Ekonomim, there are plans to raise the lowest pension, which is currently 10,000 TL, to at least 12,000 TL.

TO BE PRESENTED TO ERDOĞAN

In this context, various formulas are being worked on, and these formulas are expected to be presented for Erdoğan's approval within the week.

If Erdoğan gives his approval, the proposal will be urgently brought to the Parliament's agenda and is expected to be passed in Parliament within the month of July. AKP officials have also requested financial reports regarding the lowest pension from the relevant ministries.

A report detailing how many retirees the increase will cover and what the cost will be will also be presented to Erdoğan.
