Collective bargaining call to Perfetti Van Melle: Union holds press conference in front of the factory!
The Tekgıda-İş Union has called on the Perfetti Van Melle employer to sit at the collective bargaining table.
At Perfetti Van Melle, the world's second-largest and Europe's largest producer of gum and confectionery, the resistance of the dismissed workplace representative continues in front of the factory.
The Tekgıda-İş Union, affiliated with Türk-İş, held a press conference in front of the workplace, demanding that the employer respect the will of the employees to work under union representation.
Tekgıda-İş Organizing Secretary Kemal Köse stated the following in his announcement:
“We are warning the employer officials once again in your presence; put an end to these pressures immediately! Your employees have exercised their constitutional rights and have become members of the Tekgıda-İş union, our union. What is expected of the employer here is to respect the will of the employees.
As the Tekgıda-İş Union, we would like to state that we stand for rights and justice. Stop depriving your employees of their rights, violating the laws of the Republic of Turkey, and messing with your employees' livelihoods! Perfetti Van Melle employees have organized under our union, saying 'enough is enough' to working precariously at the whim of the employer, to the employer's arbitrary attitudes, to behaviors that despise workers and do not treat them as human beings, and to the injustices committed, so that they can work without the fear of being fired.
The statement made by the company's CEO, Sameer Suneja, on the official website regarding employees is as follows:
‘We value our employees at the highest level. We have created an environment where passion, expertise, entrepreneurship, and friendship grow and thrive. We are committed to the principles of diversity, equality, and inclusion. Similarly, we value the employees of our suppliers and business partners with whom we work. We want to ensure that all our colleagues, including our directly employed staff, contract workers, and the employees of the parties we work with, receive fair and ethical treatment as defined by our human rights declaration.’
We want you to respect the constitutional rights of your employees. The solution to this matter is the collective bargaining table.
With the belief that Perfetti Van Melle executives will hear these legitimate demands of ours, we would like to state once again that we will not give up our struggle. In the face of a contrary attitude, we will carry this legitimate struggle to all national and international platforms, not only in front of your factories but also by using our legal rights until our struggle reaches success.”
