Companies cannot breathe: Record increase in bankruptcy rulings recorded in the first four months

Policies implemented to curb inflation have increased difficulties in accessing financing, while the pressure on companies continues to grow. The rise in concordat and bankruptcy applications in the first four months of 2026 reveals that the real sector is facing increasingly difficult conditions.

According to data from Konkordatotakip.com, 189 companies in January, 120 in February, 156 in March, and 218 in April received temporary grace period rulings for concordat. Thus, the total number of files related to temporary grace periods reached 683 in the first four months of the year.

The increase in the number of files related to final grace periods is also noteworthy. Courts issued final grace period rulings for 150 files in January, 121 in February, 149 in March, and 157 in April. At the end of four months, the total number of finalized concordat files reached 577.

The number of concordat files that were rejected rose to 716, exceeding the level for the entire year of 2024.

In the first four months of 2026, the number of files for which bankruptcy rulings were issued reached 89. Compared to the same period last year, there was a 68 percent increase in this area. Courts issued bankruptcy rulings for 22 companies in January, 20 in February, 20 in March, and 27 in April. However, in the same period of the previous year, this number remained at 53.

HIGHEST RISK IN TEXTILES AND CONSTRUCTION

When looking at the sectoral distribution, the textile sector was the area with the most temporary concordat grace period rulings. Since May 2025, it has been at the top with 149 files in textiles. Following textiles, the risky picture continues in the construction sector with 138 files. Metal product manufacturing ranks third with 78 files.
