Competition Board imposes fines on food companies

The Competition Board has imposed a total of 355 million lira in administrative fines on food companies, including Nestle Türkiye, Eti Gıda, and Horizon Hızlı Tüketim. It decided that no fine should be imposed on Danone Tikveşli Gıda, which was also under investigation.

Competition Board imposes fines on food companies

The Competition Board has concluded its investigations into several food companies.

According to announcements on the Competition Authority's website, the investigation into whether Aksaray Unlu Mamulleri Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi violated the Law on the Protection of Competition by determining the resale prices of its buyers has been concluded.

The Board determined that the enterprise violated the law by setting the resale prices of its buyers. With the acceptance of the settlement request submitted by the firm, a fine of 2 million 219 thousand 764 lira was imposed on the enterprise, with a 25 percent discount.

DANONE TİKVEŞLİ-NESTLE TÜRKİYE INVESTIGATION ALSO CONCLUDED

The investigation conducted to determine whether Danone Tikveşli Gıda ve İçecek San. ve Tic. AŞ and Nestle Türkiye Gıda Sanayi AŞ violated the law through the exchange of competitively sensitive information has also been completed.

As a result of the investigation, it was decided that there was no ground to impose an administrative fine on Danone Tikveşli Gıda.

Nestle Türkiye Gıda Sanayi AŞ, however, was fined 260 million 183 thousand 629 lira on the grounds that it violated the relevant provision of the law.

In the same file, Eti Gıda San. ve Tic. AŞ, which was under investigation and requested a settlement, was fined 36 million 96 thousand 652 lira, while Horizon Hızlı Tüketim Ürünleri Üretim Pazarlama Satış ve Ticaret AŞ was fined 55 million 140 thousand 344 lira.

On the other hand, the investigation conducted to determine whether Binboğa Üretim Pazarlama Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ violated the law by determining the resale prices of its buyers has also been concluded. The firm was fined 3 million 938 thousand 700 lira on the grounds that it violated the law by setting the resale prices of its buyers.
