Confidence index declines in service and retail sectors

Compared to the previous month, the confidence index fell by 2.4 percent in the service sector and 1.9 percent in the retail trade sector in November, while it rose by 2.2 percent in the construction sector.

Confidence index declines in service and retail sectors

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the confidence indices for the service, retail trade, and construction sectors for November.

Accordingly, the seasonally adjusted confidence index in November decreased by 2.4 percent on a monthly basis in the service sector to 110.9, fell by 1.9 percent in the retail trade sector to 111.7, and increased by 2.2 percent in the construction sector to reach a value of 91.

In the service sector, compared to the previous month, business situation over the last 3 months decreased by 4 percent and demand for services over the last 3 months decreased by 4.6 percent, while the expectation for demand for services over the next 3 months increased by 1.6 percent.

In the retail trade sector, compared to the previous month, business volume-sales over the last 3 months decreased by 3.3 percent and the expectation for business volume-sales over the next 3 months decreased by 2.1 percent, while the current level of goods stock remained unchanged.

In the construction sector, compared to the previous month, the current level of registered orders increased by 1.7 percent, and an increase of 2.6 percent was recorded in the sub-index for the expectation of total number of employees over the next 3 months.
