Countries with the world's largest gold reserves ranked: Turkey's new position draws attention
The countries where global gold reserves are concentrated have been announced. Turkey's place in the rankings is once again coming to the fore alongside global shifts.
The total value of unprocessed gold reserves located underground worldwide is estimated to exceed 7 trillion dollars. According to a new report prepared by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the majority of gold reserves on Earth are distributed among only 10 countries. The reserve amount in these countries accounts for 85 percent of the global total.
The increase in Turkey's gold reserves throughout the year is among the notable developments on the list. With the data from October 2025, the current ranking of countries in the international reserve race is as follows:

Portugal is in 15th place on the list with 383 tons of gold reserves. It is followed by Taiwan with 424 tons, the Eurozone with 507 tons, and Poland with 515 tons. The Netherlands took 11th place with a stock of 612 tons.
Turkey continued to hold 10th place as it did last year, but significantly increased its reserve amount, reaching a total of 641 tons. This rise has solidified our country's position in the global gold reserve league. Japan is in 9th place with 846 tons, and India is in 8th place with 880 tons.

While Switzerland maintains its influence in the world gold market with 1,040 tons of reserves, the People's Republic of China stands out in 6th place with 2,304 tons of reserves. Russia is 5th with 2,330 tons, while France is in 4th place with 2,437 tons.
Looking at the top three, Italy maintained its third place with 2,451 tons. Germany is in second place with 3,350 tons of gold reserves. At the top of the list is the United States with a massive reserve of 8,133 tons.
Turkey's increase in reserves, despite maintaining its position in the global ranking, also signals that it could play a more effective role in the future in regional and financial terms.
