Court has reached its verdict: Share distribution at Koç Holding is being reshaped

The Anatolian 18th Family Court has annulled the marriage of 88-year-old businessman İnan Kıraç to Emine Alangoya. This decision also impacts the share distribution at Koç Holding, positioning İpek Kıraç as the sole heir.

İpek Kıraç had filed a lawsuit for the annulment of the marriage, claiming that her father was not of sound mind. A dementia report from the Council of Forensic Medicine changed the course of the proceedings, and the court declared the marriage invalid. This development marks a critical turning point for Koç Holding, one of Turkey's largest companies.

REDISTRIBUTION OF SHARES

When Suna Kıraç passed away in 2020, she held a 12.97 percent stake in Koç Holding. These shares were divided equally between her husband, İnan Kıraç, and her daughter, İpek Kıraç. However, the marriage İnan Kıraç entered into in 2024 had complicated the future distribution of these shares. With the annulment of the marriage, İpek Kıraç has become the sole heir to the shares that had passed from Suna Kıraç to İnan Kıraç.

With the shares inherited from her mother, İpek Kıraç has become one of the most powerful figures at Koç Holding. Being the sole heir to her father İnan Kıraç's shares as well indicates that she will become the person with the largest stake in Koç Holding in the future.
