Date set: POS terminals now mandatory in neighborhood markets
Starting August 15, the use of POS terminals will become mandatory in neighborhood markets across Turkey. With this innovation, citizens will now be able to shop using credit or debit cards.
The necessity of carrying cash in markets across Turkey is coming to an end. The new regulation covers hundreds of thousands of market vendors and offers consumers the option to pay by card. In this way, citizens without cash will be able to continue their shopping without interruption.
Market vendors will be required to use POS terminals starting August 15. As a result of negotiations with banks, discounts on commission rates have been secured for vendors. Officials state that this practice will bring convenience to both citizens and tradespeople. The new system will make market shopping faster and more secure, while also reducing the risk of vendors having to carry cash.
