Deadline approaching for property tax payments

Owners of residences, workplaces, land, or buildings are required to pay property tax every year. This tax is collected in two installments, one during the March-May period and the other in November. The deadline for the first installment of 2025 is May 31, and if payment is not made by this date, late payment interest will begin to be applied.

HOW TO PAY PROPERTY TAX?

It is possible to pay property tax without going to the municipality, via the Revenue Administration (GİB) website or e-Devlet. After logging into the system, you can access real estate information from the "Tax Debt Inquiry and Payment" tab and make the payment with a credit or debit card. A digital receipt can also be obtained after payment.

WHO IS EXEMPT FROM TAX?

Certain groups of citizens are exempt from property tax. These groups include citizens who own a single residence and have no income, retirees, relatives of martyrs, veterans, disabled individuals, and those receiving widow's or orphan's pensions. These groups can benefit from the exemption right by applying to municipalities or via e-Devlet.

BEWARE OF LATE PAYMENT INTEREST

In case of delay in property tax payments, a 4.5% interest rate is applied each month. For this reason, it is important for taxpayers not to leave their payments to the last day and to process them, especially during peak payment periods.

PREPARATION FOR THE SECOND INSTALLMENT

The second installment of the property tax will be paid in November, and it would be beneficial for citizens to check their tax debts regularly.
