Decision date set for electricity and natural gas price hikes!

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made important statements regarding current developments in the energy market during a television program he attended. Minister Bayraktar pointed to April for when potential changes to electricity and natural gas prices might be on the agenda.

In response to questions about whether there would be price increases for electricity and natural gas, Minister Bayraktar stated, "An evaluation regarding electricity and natural gas prices will be made on April 1. We can also make the evaluation regarding the natural gas support program in April."

Providing information on Turkey's position in oil and natural gas supply, Bayraktar said, "We purchase crude oil, particularly from Iraq and Saudi Arabia. 10 percent of our total supply comes from these countries. In terms of supply security, these regions do not pose a problem for us." Bayraktar also emphasized that Turkey is not experiencing any issues regarding natural gas and that the country does not have any high dependency on liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchases from Qatar. Bayraktar stated, "Qatar is a place where its LNG meets the world. Again, we have no dependency via the Strait of Hormuz. We do not have significant LNG purchases from Qatar. Therefore, we have not caused any problems for our country in natural gas and crude oil, and we will not do so," he said.
