Decrease in cattle production according to TUIK data

In the cattle category, the number of cattle decreased by 2.6% compared to the previous year to 16 million 421 thousand heads, while the number of water buffalo decreased by 5.9% compared to the previous year to 161 thousand 749 heads.
DECREASE IN SHEEP NUMBERS
In the small ruminant category, the number of sheep decreased by 5.9% compared to the previous year to 42 million 60 thousand heads, while the number of goats decreased by 11.0% compared to the previous year to 10 million 303 thousand heads.
INCREASE IN CATTLE IMPORTS
According to the Federation of Food and Drink Industry Associations of Turkey (TGDF) Digital Data Panel, cattle imports increased by 638.3% in December 2023.
