Following the decline in oil prices, a discount of 2.44 TL per liter of diesel is planned to take effect starting Tuesday. This development will bring pump prices in major cities down to the 57 TL level.
The rapid decline in oil markets in recent days has begun to reflect positively on fuel prices. In particular, the expectation that the war between Ukraine and Russia could end has caused global oil prices to fall. In addition, the US Federal Reserve's approach to interest rate cuts has weakened the dollar, which has also supported the reduction in fuel prices.
DISCOUNT TO BE APPLIED STARTING TUESDAY
According to industry sources, a discount of 2.44 TL is expected on diesel prices starting Tuesday. Following this discount, the price of diesel is projected to be 57.03 TL in Istanbul, 58.06 TL in Ankara, and 58.40 TL in Izmir. Thus, diesel prices, which have remained high for a long time, will fall below 60 TL.
EFFECTS ON INFLATION
This reduction in fuel prices could have a positive impact not only for drivers but also on the economy as a whole. The drop in diesel and gasoline prices could reduce transportation costs, affect general price levels, and exert downward pressure on inflation. Economists state that November inflation data could be announced lower due to the effect of this decline and that year-end inflation expectations could be revised.
