Dollar/TL reaches historic level following nullity ruling

The Turkish lira has experienced a new depreciation in the shadow of political developments. The atmosphere of uncertainty following the recent management change in the Republican People's Party (CHP) caused the dollar/TL exchange rate to reach a historic peak. The rate, which exceeded the 45.7425 band in the morning hours, saw its highest level of all time.

The dollar, which was trading at the 45.6150 level at the previous day's close, recorded an increase of approximately 0.3 percent following the announcement of the ruling. Experts agree that the volatility among political actors has reduced confidence in the market.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE INTERVENTION FROM THE CBRT

During this period of increased vulnerability, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) carried out a large-scale sale of foreign currency in the market to support the Turkish lira. It is stated that this step is aimed at limiting the rapid rise and volatility in the exchange rate.

In this sensitive process where investors are closely following developments, the fluctuation in financial markets is expected to continue for some time.

CRITICAL DECISION AT THE CHP CONVENTION

The court ruling in the CHP convention case has opened a new chapter in politics. The court ruled for the temporary suspension of party chairman Özgür Özel and the current management from their duties. With the decision, it was ruled that former chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu be reinstated to his position.
