Electricity price ceiling soars
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has raised the maximum price limit in the electricity market to 4,500 TL/MWh. Following the decision, which will take effect on April 4, new bids in the market have become mandatory.
A notable regulation has been implemented in the energy market. The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has increased the maximum price limit, which directly affects electricity production costs, to 4,500 TL/MWh, effective from April 4, 2026.
PRICE CEILING RAISED TO 4,500 TL
Within the scope of the decision, significant changes were made to the price limits applied in the electricity market. Accordingly:
The maximum price limit will be applied as 4,500 TL/MWh from April 4, 2026, until a new decision is taken by the Board.
The minimum price limit will be kept constant at 0 TL/MWh during the same period.
The effective date of the new regulation was announced as Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Energy Markets Operation Inc. (EPİAŞ) announced the new price limits to be applied in the Day-Ahead Market and the Balancing Power Market to the public. It was reported that a new era in the market has begun with the Board Decision dated April 2, 2026, and numbered 14459.
Following the increase in the price limit, a significant change was made to the system. All bids entered through the EPİAŞ system for April 4 and beyond have been automatically deleted.
In the information provided by the institution, it was stated that market participants need to update their bids based on the new price ceiling of 4,500 TL to avoid any grievances.
It was also reported that companies entering bids via web services and Excel must revise their systems according to the new price limit. In this context, it has become mandatory for all market participants to reorganize their bids in line with the new price ceiling.
PREVIOUS LIMIT WAS 3,400 TL
In the institution's previous decision dated April 3, 2025, the maximum price limit was set at 3,400 TL/MWh. With the new regulation, this limit has been significantly increased.
In line with the decision taken, it was stated that with the increase of the price ceiling affecting electricity production costs, there will be a change in the pricing structure in the market.
