Erdoğan: The fever of inflation has begun to break

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the collective opening ceremony of 369 facilities completed by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ).

Drawing attention to the unemployment figures announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Erdoğan said, "The unemployment rate fell by half a percentage point to 8.5 percent. Employment has reached 31 million 835 thousand people."

'THE FEVER OF INFLATION HAS BROKEN'

Stating that the lowest level in the unemployment rate since 2012 has been reached, Erdoğan also used the phrase "Its fever has begun to break" regarding inflation. 

Here are the highlights from Erdoğan's speech:

"We are not among those who forget the promises they made in the squares. We are not among those who bluster during the election period and then go silent. We are a government that has left its footprint in all of Turkey's 81 provinces and 922 districts. 

Wherever you go in our country, you will surely see a work, a seal of our government. We are never satisfied with the status quo; we are expanding our circle of service. I express my gratitude on behalf of my country and my nation to those who contributed their efforts to the signature of these works.

The most abundant resource in the world is water. However, 97.5 percent of this water consists of water in seas and oceans that is not suitable for agriculture and consumption. The amount of water in lakes and streams is like a drop in the ocean. This is the factor that makes the water issue one of the most strategic resources. 

In many parts of the world, water is seen as an unlimited resource. This is a completely false perception. Water resources are not unlimited. Water is a gradually diminishing resource. Due to the impact of pollution, clean water resources are rapidly decreasing. The frequency and severity of disasters are increasing due to climate change. We will continue our efforts until we reach the net-zero emission target by 2053.

Turkey does not have a single drop of water to waste. Polluting our water resources is an act of negligence equivalent to treason. We must manage our resources correctly and use water sparingly. We must not forget that future generations also have a right to this.

Everyone should know that what is a right for other countries is not a luxury for Turkey. We must definitely bring our underground and above-ground wealth into the economy. If we have minerals, we will extract them; if we have oil or natural gas, we will discover them. We will benefit from wind and solar energy. We will not let any shadow fall on our dream of a fully independent Turkey. 

The unemployment rate fell by half a percentage point to 8.5 percent. Employment has reached 31 million 835 thousand people. We have reached the lowest level in the unemployment rate since November 2012. We are in a very good position in terms of growth and exports. The fever of inflation has begun to break. The positive effects of the measures we have taken are being felt more in the market. We will encounter much better rates starting from the coming months."
