European Central Bank keeps interest rates unchanged
The European Central Bank has kept interest rates at their current levels, maintaining the deposit rate at 2 percent.
The European Central Bank (ECB) decided to keep interest rates steady at its latest meeting. The bank left the policy rate at 2.15 percent and the overnight lending rate at 2.40 percent, a move in line with market expectations.
Analysts had anticipated this decision by the ECB. In a survey conducted by Bloomberg, experts had predicted that interest rates would remain unchanged.
In the past, the ECB had cut the deposit rate eight times by 25 basis points between May 2024 and June 2025, bringing it down from 4 percent to 2 percent. These steps were taken to support economic growth.
This decision by the ECB is considered part of its efforts to ensure economic stability. The bank continues to shape its monetary policies by taking into account factors such as inflation and economic growth.
