Exorbitant price fines for 183 businesses
As part of the fight against unfair price increases, a total of 96.6 million liras in fines were imposed on 183 businesses. The Ministry of Trade announced that it is closely monitoring price fluctuations in basic food products.
The Ministry of Trade announced that the Unfair Price Evaluation Board held its second meeting of the year on April 3, 2026. The focus of the meeting was on price increases observed in basic food items, particularly vegetables and fruits.
According to the statement, a detailed investigation conducted by the board determined that some companies operating in national chain markets and wholesale markets were engaging in exorbitant pricing. In this context, it was decided to impose administrative fines totaling 96.6 million TL on 183 businesses.
The statement emphasized that the inspections, carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade, aim to ensure price stability in the market and protect consumer rights, adding that these inspections will continue with determination.
