Farmer inflation shows no signs of stopping
According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the Agricultural Products Producer Price Index increased by 3.06 percent on a monthly basis in December. The Agricultural PPI rose by 36.01 percent throughout the entire year of 2025.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has shared the results of the Agricultural Products Producer Price Index (Agricultural-PPI) for December 2025 with the public. According to the released data, the upward trend in the index continued in December.
MONTHLY, ANNUAL, AND AVERAGE INCREASE RATES
According to TÜİK data, the Agricultural-PPI (2020=100) increased by 3.06 percent in December 2025 compared to the previous month. While the index rose by 36.01 percent compared to December of the previous year, the increase rate based on twelve-month averages was 37.47 percent.
MONTHLY CHANGE BY SECTOR
Changes experienced on a sectoral basis compared to the previous month were announced as follows:
A 3.00 percent increase in agriculture and hunting products and related services
A 1.59 percent increase in forestry products and related services
A 6.25 percent increase in fish and other fishing products, aquaculture, and support services for fishing
CHANGE IN MAIN PRODUCT GROUPS
When main groups are examined, compared to the previous month in December:
An 8.57 percent increase in annual (non-perennial) crops
A 1.32 percent decrease in perennial (long-lived) crops
A 3.59 percent increase in live animals and animal products occurred.
NOTABLE INCREASES IN SUBGROUPS
On a subgroup basis, the item with the highest annual change was pome fruits and stone fruits with an increase of 125.68 percent.
The highest increase on a monthly basis was recorded in the vegetables and melons, roots and tubers group with 22.27 percent.
