Fatih Portakal shared the information he obtained regarding the minimum wage during a live YouTube broadcast.
Portakal said, "We will learn how much the minimum wage will be in the last week of December. I don't know if it will be determined twice in 2024 as well. But as far as we understand, they will go with a single adjustment," and announced the information he received as follows:
IT MAY BE BETWEEN 16,500 - 16,900 LIRAS
"Yesterday I said, 'Come on, November is here again,' because the parties will meet in December. I looked into how much it would be. According to what 1-2 people I spoke with conveyed, the expectation for the minimum wage is that it will be between 16,500 and 16,900 liras. 18,000 has been mentioned, but it is not wanted by employers because it would significantly affect labor costs. The government also does not want it because it would cause a deviation from the inflation target."
Portakal reminded that many businesses make payments just slightly above the minimum wage for show.
Portakal stated that in practice, those earning the minimum wage and salaries close to it make up 70 percent of society.
