Ferry fare hike in İzmir

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has updated the fare schedule for İZDENİZ ferries following a decision by the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME).

According to the new tariff, which will be implemented starting Friday, June 20, the boarding fee for motorcycles has been set at 75 TL, 200 TL for automobiles, 400 TL for mid-range vehicles, 900 TL for buses and trucks, and 1250 TL for semi-trucks.

The municipality continues to provide a subsidy equivalent to the cost of transporting approximately four vehicles for every vehicle carried, in order to encourage sea transportation.

Discounted tariffs applied during certain hours on weekdays will also continue. Under the instruction of İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Cemil Tugay, motorcycles, automobiles, and mid-range vehicles will be able to benefit from the discounted tariff on weekdays between 10:00-15:40 and 21:00-23:00.

During these hours, motorcycles will pay 60 TL, automobiles 170 TL, and mid-range vehicles 350 TL. The discounts will not be valid on weekends, public holidays, or official holidays.

Compared to other cities that provide vehicle transport by sea, İzmir continues to offer the lowest transport fee per mile. Furthermore, no extra fees are charged for passengers in vehicles boarding the ferries.

The frequency of trips on the Üçkuyular-Bostanlı line on Sundays has been increased. In order to ensure that citizens returning from holiday regions during the summer months can travel without entering city traffic, the number of Sunday trips has been increased from 44 to 51, and the frequency of trips between 19:30-23:00 has been reduced from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.

In 2024, an average of 3 thousand 723 vehicles were transported daily on the Üçkuyular – Bostanlı line, with a total of 1 million 359 thousand 210 vehicles using the ferries. With the increased demand during the summer months, the average number of vehicles transported per month reached 125 thousand.
