Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made his first statement on X following the appointment of Fatih Karahan after former Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan requested to be 'relieved' of her duties.
Şimşek stated the following:
"WE WILL MAKE THE PROGRAM GAINS PERMANENT WITH STRUCTURAL REFORMS"
"Central Bank Governor Mr. Fatih Karahan has started his new role today. I congratulate him and wish him success. We have full confidence in and support for the Governor and his team.
In the coming period, we will continue to implement our economic program decisively and in coordination between institutions.
We are working with all our strength with our strong economic team to consolidate macro-financial stability.
While continuing to support the disinflation process with fiscal discipline, we will make our program gains permanent with the structural reforms we will implement."
