CHP Zonguldak Deputy Deniz Yavuzyılmaz has made a statement concerning millions of citizens, claiming that there will be a significant increase in apartment maintenance fees.

According to the claim, which is based on an EMRA decision published in the Official Gazette, there will be a 90 percent price hike for electricity used in the common areas of apartment buildings. Yavuzyılmaz stated, "This price hike will affect at least 10 million citizens."

Deniz Yavuzyılmaz used the following expressions in his post on the social media platform X:

"New good news from the AK Party! Starting from February 2025, a 90 percent price hike is coming for the common electricity consumption of apartment buildings. This hike will be inevitable for apartment buildings with a monthly electricity bill of 1,050 TL or more. 3 million households, and a total of 10 million people, will be affected by the hike."

The claims are linked to a decision by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) published in the Official Gazette.

It has been suggested that a different tariff will be applied to electricity used in the common areas of apartment buildings, moving them out of the residential tariff category. This situation could lead to a significant increase in apartment maintenance fees.
