The rate of increase for passports, driver's licenses, ID cards, motor vehicle tax (MTV), and various public services was announced as 43.93 percent.

While eyes were on AKP President Erdoğan for a reduction in the Revaluation Rate, the expected did not happen.

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, a 43.93 percent hike in taxes, fees, and fines for 2025 has been finalized.

ENTERED INTO FORCE WITH ERDOĞAN'S SIGNATURE

The "General Communiqué on the Tax Procedure Law" by the Revenue Administration of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance was published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, the revaluation rate for 2024 was determined as 43.93 percent.

The communiqué stated, "As is known, according to paragraph (B) of the repeated article 298 of the Tax Procedure Law No. 213, the revaluation rate is the average price increase rate that occurred in the Domestic Producer Price Index of the Turkish Statistical Institute in October of the year in which the revaluation will be made (including October) compared to the same period of the previous year, and this rate must be announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance in the Official Gazette."

THE MINIMUM AMOUNT TO BE PAID FOR 2025 MTV WILL BE 4,835 TL

The motor vehicle tax (MTV) collected from vehicle owners every year is increased by the revaluation rate.

For new vehicles with an engine displacement of 1300cc and below, the lowest MTV will rise from 3,359 TL to 4,835 TL. The lowest MTV for new cars with the most common engine displacement between 1301 and 1600cc will also rise from 5,851 TL to 8,421 TL. The inspection fee applied to cars will rise from 1,821 TL to 2,621 TL.

RED LIGHT VIOLATION 2,167 TL

Traffic fines are increased by the revaluation rate. The President does not have the authority to reduce or increase traffic fines. The President is authorized to increase or decrease vehicle inspection fees and fines, which are increased by the revaluation rate every year, by 20 percent every 5 years.

Accordingly, some traffic fines in 2025 will be as follows:

Using a mobile phone while driving, red light violation, failure to have an inspection: 2,168 TL (1,506 TL)

Driving an unregistered vehicle: 9,267 TL (6,439 TL)

Not wearing a seatbelt, violating parking bans: 993 TL (690 TL)

Occupying a disabled parking space: 1,986 TL (1,380 TL)

Failure to install winter tires: 5,856 TL (4,069 TL)

Driving under the influence of alcohol (first offense): 9,267 TL (6,439 TL)

2025 DEPARTURE TAX FEE

The departure tax had been increased from 150 TL to 500 TL as of August 12. Starting from the new year, the departure tax will rise to 719.65 TL.

2025 IMEI REGISTRATION FEES

The fee collected for phones brought by passengers from abroad was increased from 6,091 TL to 20,000 TL in July last year. When it was increased by the revaluation rate in 2024, it became 31,692 TL. In 2025, 45,614 TL in fees will be paid when registering the IMEI of mobile phones brought from abroad.

DRIVER'S LICENSE FEE 5,678 TL

The Class B driver's license fee used for cars, minibuses, and pickup trucks will rise from 3,945 TL to 5,678 TL, and the Class A driver's license fee will rise from 1,308 TL to 1,883 TL.

6-MONTH PASSPORT FEE 2,359 TL

Passport fees for 2025 will also be as follows:

Up to 6 months: 2,359 TL (1,639 TL)

1 year: 3,448 TL (2,396 TL)

2 years: 5,631 TL (3,912 TL)

3 years: 8,000 TL (5,558 TL)

More than 3 years: 11,274 TL (7,833 TL)
