He said 'I have information' and gave a figure: Here is the new minimum wage

A minimum wage increase is expected with the new year. While there is speculation about what the increase rate will be, journalist Sinan Burhan shared his minimum wage prediction.

Speaking on a live broadcast on TV100, journalist Sinan Burhan made the following statements:

"The issue the public is most curious about is the minimum wage. I have spoken with the parties involved in this issue. There are three parties to this issue. These are TİSK, another party is Türk-İş, and the other party is the government. There is a committee consisting of a total of 15 people. The Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK) wants the minimum wage to be low. Because it thinks that labor costs will be a burden on the private sector itself.

Türk-İş, on the other hand, wants the minimum wage to be very high. At this point, the government is in the position of an arbitrator. Our President's general stance is to stand by the worker and the minimum wage earner. However, the preliminary meetings so far have not yet begun.

Let me put it this way; these meetings, the Minimum Wage Commission, will convene in the first week of December, and 4-5 different figures are being mentioned in this 15-person committee. However, the information I have obtained is 23,292 TL. That corresponds to 37 percent.

Now let me say this; the 15-person committee will meet in the first week of December. There are 3-4 different minimum wage scenarios here in Ankara. A 37 percent increase in the minimum wage is expected. Accordingly, it is planned to be 23,292 TL.

Let us also add this finally; of course, since our President stands by the minimum wage earner and the worker, he may come together with TİSK executives and Türk-İş executives at the last moment and make an increase on his own initiative at this point.

At the ministry level or at this union level, the general expectation we have received in Ankara is 23,292 TL. We do not know whether our President will take the initiative and raise it to 24,000 or if it will be 23,800. But the figure currently being discussed is at this point.

Let me also state this; this is not for the state, there is no one receiving minimum wage in the state. This is a figure determined for the private sector. It is the lowest limit; the employer can go above this, can give more. One would wish for the minimum wage to be much higher.

However, there is also such a situation; every kind of increase to be made to the minimum wage also comes as more inflation to the product and service sector. For example, when you give a raise to the cashier, when you give a raise to the security guard, you also get a price hike on cheese, you also get a price hike on olives; the important thing is to increase purchasing power"
