How many sacrificial animals were sold during Eid al-Adha? The figures have been announced
It is estimated that over 3 million sacrificial animals were sold during Eid al-Adha. Nihat Çelik, Chairman of the Turkish Federation of Sheep and Goat Breeders (TÜDKİYEB), stated that 2.5 million of this figure consisted of small ruminants.

SACRIFICES PERFORMED BY PROXY
The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation performed a total of 890 thousand sacrificial slaughter by proxy in Türkiye and abroad. The Turkish Red Crescent carried out approximately 170 thousand sacrifices. With the contribution of other organizations and chain markets, the number of sacrifices performed by proxy was said to have exceeded 1 million.
THE SITUATION OF UNSOLD ANIMALS
The Meat and Milk Board (ESK) stepped in for unsold sacrificial animals and animals that could not be taken to markets due to quarantine. It was announced that these animals would be purchased by ESK once their quarantine period is completed. This practice was described as an important support for breeders.
ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE LOSS OF ANIMAL HIDES
The loss of animal hides during the holiday was said to be regrettable from an economic perspective. It was emphasized that the unused hide potential led to the waste of billions of lira in national wealth and that this represented a serious economic loss.
