How much will salaries be increased? Pensioners' expectations have become clear

As the end of the year approaches, millions of pensioners are waiting for the salary increase rates for 2025.

Satılmış Çalışkan, President of the All Pensioners Association and Spokesperson for the Turkey Pensioners Platform, stated that the CPI data announced by TURKSTAT is insufficient for pensioners.

Stating that the CPI erodes pension salaries, Çalışkan said, "We have intervened in the lawsuits filed on this matter. The pensioner's salary erodes before they even receive the raise; they no longer have the purchasing power to go to the market."

Çalışkan demanded that the lowest pension be raised to the level of the minimum wage. He also expressed that pension salaries should be linked to an index and coefficient system instead of the CPI.

Çalışkan said, "The current system is what condemns the pensioner to poverty today. A coefficient and adjustment law has now become mandatory."

Çalışkan stated that pensioners should also be at the table for salary negotiations.

"Pensioners are not asking for a favor, they are demanding their rights. We want to be at the table and convey our demands directly," he said.

PENSIONERS ANNOUNCED THEIR RAISE DEMAND

Demanding a CPI increase plus a 10,000 TL flat raise for 2025, Çalışkan stated that even this amount would not be enough to economically recover pensioners. He concluded his remarks by saying, "We reiterate this demand for a raise for a humane life."
