Lowest pension adjustment leaked from AKP corridors! Here is the figure on the table...
Following the statements made by Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan regarding the lowest pension, the corridors of the ruling party have become active. It is being discussed in AKP circles that the increase for the lowest pension could go beyond the current proposal.
The minimum wage increase, eagerly awaited by millions of workers, has been finalized. The minimum wage has risen to 28 thousand 75 TL with a 27 percent hike.
Following this development, public attention has turned to the increase to be made to pensions.
What is being discussed in AKP corridors and the figures that have emerged in recent days have signaled a new regulation for retirees.
In line with the inflation data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute on January 5, the pension increase rate for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees was determined as 12.19 percent.
However, this rate received serious backlash from retirees, especially during a period when living conditions have become more difficult.
In the current landscape, where the hunger threshold is approaching 30 thousand TL, it was calculated that the lowest pension would rise to 18 thousand 649 TL with the 12.19 percent increase.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan had announced that a new regulation regarding the lowest pension was being worked on and that the prepared proposal would be submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey shortly.
Following this statement, a meeting was held on Wednesday with the participation of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, and AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler. However, no official statement was made to the public after the meeting.
More than 4 million retirees are still trying to get by on the lowest pension and continue to express their reactions due to the insufficiency of this amount. What is being discussed in AKP corridors regarding the pension regulation has leaked from the backrooms.
While it is stated that the figure of 18 thousand 649 TL is considered a strong possibility by the economic management, it is claimed that different figures are being discussed in party circles.
NTV reporter Özgür Akbaş also shared information he based on AKP sources during a live broadcast. Stating that a new figure has come to the agenda in the corridors, Akbaş said the following:
“There will be an increase above the 12.19 percent rate. In fact, what is being said as AKP corridor information is this: It is stated that there will be a 27.36 percent hike, equal to the rate of the raise to be given to the minimum wage.
The lowest pension that nearly 4 million retirees will receive will be 21 thousand 500 TL. This figure is being seriously discussed. It has also been calculated that its impact on the treasury will be 10 billion 248 million TL.”
