Major brands prepare to announce consecutive price hikes: Price increases could reach up to 90 percent!
US President Donald Trump's import tariffs have caused price increases across a wide range of products. The 30 percent additional customs duty applied to products from China is affecting many sectors, from retail to automotive. Major brands such as Walmart, Ford, and Adidas state that price increases could reach up to 90 percent.
The new import tariffs implemented by US President Donald Trump are forcing many large companies to raise their prices. In addition to a 10 percent base tariff on imported goods, Trump has introduced a 30 percent additional tax on Chinese goods, with even higher rates for steel and aluminum products. This situation is making 2025 more expensive for Americans.
COMPANIES IMPLEMENTING PRICE INCREASES
The 12 companies that will implement price increases due to Trump's tariffs include brands for products frequently used in daily life. Here are those companies:
Walmart announced on April 15 that it would increase prices, particularly for products manufactured in China, due to the high level of Trump's tariffs. These price changes are expected to begin at the end of May and increase further in June.
Toy giant Mattel announced on May 6 that it would implement price increases due to the tariffs. The company aims to keep 40 to 50 percent of its products at a price of 20 dollars or less and is calling for zero tariffs on toys worldwide.
Electronics retailer Best Buy is also among the brands planning to implement price increases in the coming weeks.
Nintendo has postponed the pre-order date for its Switch 2 video game console due to concerns regarding the tariffs. While the starting price of the console remains unchanged, there will be price increases for accessories.
Sony's PlayStation brand may also implement price increases.
Chinese e-commerce giants Shein and Temu announced that they would make price adjustments starting April 25, 2025, due to rising operating costs.
Ford and Subaru are being forced to implement price increases due to the 25 percent customs duty applied to imported automobiles.
Ford's Chief Financial Officer Sherry House stated that they expect car prices in the US to increase by up to 1.5 percent in the second half of 2025. Subaru announced that it would increase its US prices to offset rising costs.
Stanley Black & Decker increased its power tool prices by high single-digit percentages in April due to the tariffs.
Adidas stated that product costs in the US could rise due to Trump's customs duties. CEO Bjørn Gulden expressed that they do not know what the final tariffs will be due to the uncertainty in negotiations between the US and various exporting countries.
