Şamil Tayyar gives a date: Flat-rate pension hike left to the ballot box

While the burden on salaried segments continues under economic crisis conditions, new statements have come from the government front regarding the additional raise regulations expected by retirees and employees.

During a period where the effects of disinflation policies are felt particularly by salaried segments, the minimum wage remains below the hunger threshold, while the lowest pension was set at 18,938 TL. Millions of citizens continue their struggle for livelihood with incomes remaining below the 30,143 lira hunger threshold announced in December.

ŞAMİL TAYYAR EMPHASIZES ELECTION CALENDAR

Former AKP deputy and journalist Şamil Tayyar, in his assessment, also touched upon discussions of a possible early election, reminding that the earliest election date within the government wing is stated as November 2027. Tayyar stated that the additional regulations expected by retirees are linked to this calendar.

2027 SIGNAL FOR FLAT-RATE HIKE

Tayyar stated that a flat-rate hike application for retirees is on the agenda for the new period. In his statement, he expressed that additional regulations to improve the income conditions of retirees are planned to be implemented in 2027.

Tayyar also said that eliminating the raise discrepancies that have emerged between SSK, Bağ-Kur, and Emekli Sandığı retirees is among the topics under evaluation.

Evaluating the fact that the increase made to the minimum wage remained above the revaluation rate, despite staying below the inflation rate, as positive, Tayyar described keeping increases in certain tax items such as Motor Vehicle Tax and title deed fees below the revaluation rate as a “positive shift in mentality.”

ERDOĞAN’S NEW PERIOD PLANS

Arguing that the AKP has strengthened the environment of trust with its economic policies, Tayyar made assessments regarding the steps President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan plans to take in the new period.

Among the topics shared by Tayyar were: a comprehensive public reform covering the work and income conditions of all public employees becoming clear towards the end of the year, flat-rate pension hike regulations coming into effect in 2027, and the elimination of differences between pension salaries.

Tayyar stated that in addition to measures to facilitate the real sector's access to credit, regulations aiming to spread prosperity to the general public are also on the agenda. He expressed that various reforms in the field of fundamental rights and freedoms are also planned in parallel with the general improvement in the economy.

At the end of his statement, Tayyar expressed that if the mentioned steps are implemented, political balances could shift towards the election process.
