The date for the payment of increased holiday bonuses has been set! Who is eligible to receive the bonus?

The holiday bonus regulation, which concerns approximately 16.5 million retirees, has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). With the omnibus bill proposal brought to the Assembly, the bonus received by retirees for Ramadan and Eid al-Adha has been increased from 3,000 Turkish Liras to 4,000 Turkish Liras.

Increase rate: 33 percent

New bonus amount: 4,000 TL

Total annual payment: 8,000 TL

AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler stated in his explanation regarding the matter that the cost of the 1,000 lira increase to the budget is over 30 billion liras.

ON WHICH DATES WILL THE HOLIDAY BONUSES BE DEPOSITED INTO ACCOUNTS?

Ramadan Bayram Bonus:

Retirees will receive their increased bonuses before the Ramadan Bayram, which will begin on March 30. The payments are planned to be deposited into accounts between March 24 and 28.

Eid al-Adha Bonus:

Before Eid al-Adha, payments will be made between June 6 and 9.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security will announce the exact payment dates in the coming days.

HOW WILL THE BONUS INCREASE BECOME LAW?

The bill proposal, which bears the signatures of AKP Burdur Deputy Mustafa Oğuz, Aksaray Deputy Hüseyin Altınsoy, and other deputies, will first be discussed in the Planning and Budget Committee.

The bill proposal will be voted on in the TBMM General Assembly next week.

It will enter into force after the approval of the President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

When this process is completed, the increased holiday bonuses will be official.

WHO WILL RECEIVE THE HOLIDAY BONUS?

All retirees, those receiving widow's and orphan's pensions, and beneficiaries of death benefits will benefit from the holiday bonus. However, payment rates will vary according to the beneficiaries:

Spouse of the deceased insured (if there are no children): will receive a 75 percent payment.

If there is a child in addition to the spouse: a 50 percent payment will be made.

Beneficiaries receiving a death pension: will be able to receive a 25 percent bonus.

HOW HAVE HOLIDAY BONUSES CHANGED?

2018: 1,000 TL

2021: 1,100 TL

2023: 2,000 TL

2024: 3,000 TL

2025: 4,000 TL (new regulation)

Thus, holiday bonuses have increased 4-fold since 2018.
