The long-awaited wage offer for 600 thousand public workers has been announced

The wage offer for public workers, which Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan had indicated would come after the Eid al-Adha holiday, has been announced.

The government has officially shared the raise rates within the scope of the collective bargaining agreement for 2025.

16 PERCENT RAISE IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS, 8 PERCENT IN THE SECOND 6 MONTHS

The government has proposed a 16 percent raise for the first six months of 2025 and an 8 percent raise for the second six months.

These raise rates directly affect approximately 600 thousand public workers serving in many institutions such as hospitals, ministries, power plants, railways, and highways.

WAGE OFFER FOR 2026

The offer for 2026 was at lower levels. The government proposed a 7 percent raise for the first 6 months and a 5 percent raise for the second 6 months.

UNIONS' DEMAND IS HIGHER

TÜRK-İŞ and Hak-İş unions, which represent workers in collective bargaining negotiations, had demanded that the lowest daily wage be increased to 1,800 TL for the first 6 months of 2025 and that a 50 percent raise be applied. However, it appears these demands have not been met. TÜRK-İŞ stated that negotiations are ongoing and is awaiting a new offer from the government.

WHAT WAS THE PROPOSAL?

The draft proposal from Türk-İş and Hak-İş includes demands to increase the lowest daily wage to 1,800 liras, to apply a 50 percent raise for the first six months of 2025, a 25 percent raise for the other six-month periods, and to provide a 10 percent welfare share on top of this.
