Price changes in chain supermarkets operating across Turkey have clearly revealed the rise in food inflation.

According to market prices regularly tracked by the Consumer Union Federation (TBF), while food product prices continued to rise in September, some supermarket chains showed a decline in prices.

According to data released by TUIK, food inflation increased by 4.62 percent in September. However, according to TBF's market-based measurements, this rate was much higher in some supermarkets.

According to a report by Sözcü, the report shared by TBF indicates that the public institution Tarım Kredi Kooperatifi Marketleri, which AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had previously praised after shopping there, stood out as the chain that increased its prices the most in September.

While limited price increases were seen in some chains, the fact that discounts were made in a few supermarkets also drew attention. Consumers, faced with these differences in prices, have begun to question which supermarket is truly affordable.
