Despite strong growth data announced in China, developments in the Middle East continue to have a more dominant impact on the markets.

Most stock exchanges in Asia are in the red. Following growth data that exceeded expectations in China, the yuan gained value in both offshore and onshore markets. The Bank of Japan conducted unscheduled bond purchases after the country's 10-year yield reached its highest level in a decade.

Wall Street indices, which closed with losses on Tuesday, continue to see declines in futures trading. Oil prices have started to rise. The price of a barrel of Brent crude rose by 2 percent to 91.71 dollars, and the price of a barrel of US crude oil rose by 2.2 percent to 88.63 dollars. Copper also gained value following the Chinese data. The Bloomberg Dollar Index is flat following its 0.10 percent rise on Tuesday.
