Global wave of layoffs begins at Microsoft

Microsoft has initiated a broad layoff program as part of a new workforce reduction, affecting operations in various countries and employees in different positions. According to the information provided by the company, less than 4 percent of the total number of employees will be included in the layoff process.

A source familiar with the process stated that this decision affects employees across different departments and experience levels.

A Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement regarding the matter, "We are constantly reviewing our organizational structure to succeed in rapidly changing market conditions and continue to implement necessary changes."

Microsoft, which has come to the fore with similar moves in the past, had reduced its staff at different times in the first half of the year. In January, a reduction affecting less than 1 percent of the total number of employees based on performance took place, while more than 6,000 employees were laid off in May, and at least 300 employees were dismissed in June. In 2024, the company laid off 10,000 people.
