Gold hits record high again
Gold prices have risen to historic levels in both international markets and in Turkey. Global geopolitical tensions, central banks turning to gold for their reserves, and sharp fluctuations in exchange rates have led investors to return to gold as a "safe haven."
While the interest rate policies of the US Federal Reserve, signs of recession in Europe, tensions in the Middle East, and the strategies of BRICS countries to increase their gold reserves are determining factors in gold prices, currency pressure and high inflation in Turkey have strengthened the demand for gold. According to experts, gold is expected to maintain its strong position as long as global uncertainties persist.
Many international financial institutions have also revised their forecasts for precious metals upward. While Deutsche Bank projects the price of an ounce of gold to reach the 4 thousand dollar level by 2026, JPMorgan has announced an expectation of an average of 3 thousand 775 dollars/ounce in the last quarter of 2025. These forecasts have led to the 6 thousand 500 TL level being discussed as the new target for gram gold in the Turkish market.
EASE OF ACCESS FOR SMALL INVESTORS
DEMAŞ A.Ş. Chairman of the Board Ahmet Cumhur Kitiş stated that his previous prediction that "the 5 thousand TL level is just a matter of time" has come true, emphasizing that gold will continue to be a safe haven in the long term. Kitiş noted that rising prices are particularly challenging for low-income investors and announced that they are working on new products that will allow for gold investment with small savings. Stating that short-term fluctuations are natural, Kitiş recommended registered systems instead of keeping gold at home. For those who want to choose between foreign currency and gold, Kitiş advised a "balanced portfolio."
SILVER ALSO STANDS OUT
On the other hand, activity in the silver market alongside gold is also drawing attention. HSBC has revised its ounce silver forecast for 2025 to 35.14 dollars. Having already climbed above 44 dollars, the price of an ounce of silver continues to attract investor interest due to safe-haven demand. Experts point out that the global supply-demand deficit holds the potential to drive prices higher. According to experts, gold may follow a volatile course in the short term but will remain strong in the long term. New products to be developed for small investors are also expected to facilitate access to gold.
