Gold pauses rally, starts the week with losses
Gold paused its four-day rally in yesterday's session, marking a start in the red. Starting the week at $1,981 per ounce, the yellow metal moved in a negative direction throughout the session despite a flat-positive start in the early hours of the day.
News that Israel has postponed its ground operation in Palestine triggered a recovery in the markets, creating selling pressure on gold. It closed the day at $1,973 per ounce, ending the session with a 0.4 percent loss.
Silver was another precious metal that finished yesterday's session with losses, falling back below $23 per ounce. Starting the session at $23.36 per ounce, the white metal closed at $22.98 per ounce, recording a 1.6 percent loss.
Platinum started the week flat, continuing to remain below $900 per ounce. Closing at $899 per ounce, platinum finished the day at the same level it started.
Palladium stood out as the only precious metal to close yesterday's session in the green, continuing its effort to remain above $1,000 per ounce. Starting the session at $1,100 per ounce, palladium closed at $1,122 per ounce, achieving a 2 percent gain.
