Heavy commercial vehicle market slowed down in October
The heavy commercial vehicle market decreased by 8 percent in October 2023 compared to the same month last year, reaching 3 thousand 172 units.
According to data released by the Association of Heavy Commercial Vehicle Manufacturers (TAİD), tractor sales in October decreased by 24 percent compared to the same month of the previous year to 1 thousand 539 units, while sales of trucks 16 tons and above increased by 45 percent to 1 thousand 233 units, and sales of trucks under 16 tons decreased by 31 percent to 400 units.
The heavy commercial vehicle market (trucks/tractors 16 tons and above) increased by 55 percent compared to the average sales for October over the last 10 years. Tractor sales increased by 45 percent and truck sales increased by 70 percent compared to the 10-year average for October.
The semi-trailer vehicle market decreased by 44 percent in October compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 736 units.
JANUARY - OCTOBER PERIOD
The heavy commercial vehicle market for the January-October 2023 period increased by 25 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The total number of vehicles sold during this period was 35 thousand 184.
During this period, tractor sales increased by 14 percent to 20 thousand 183 units, while sales of trucks 16 tons and above increased by 59 percent to reach 10 thousand 355 units.
Sales of trucks under 16 tons also increased by 16 percent to reach 4 thousand 646 units.
