Housing prices rose 75.5 percent annually in December

The housing price index increased by 75.5 percent in nominal terms and 7.1 percent in real terms in December compared to the same month of the previous year.

Housing prices rose 75.5 percent annually in December

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has announced the Housing Price Index (HPI) data for December 2023. Accordingly, the HPI, which increased by 1.1 percent in December compared to the previous month, rose by 75.5 percent in nominal terms and 7.1 percent in real terms compared to the same month of the previous year.

The Housing Price Index (HPI), calculated to monitor price changes in housing in Turkey adjusted for quality effects, increased by 1.1 percent in December 2023 compared to the previous month, reaching a level of 1163.2.

The HPI, which increased by 75.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, showed an increase of 7.1 percent in real terms during the same period.

When evaluating the developments in the housing price indices of Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, an increase of 0.1, 2.5, and 3.5 percent, respectively, was observed in December 2023 compared to the previous month. Compared to the same month of the previous year, index values showed increases of 61.8, 92.3, and 75.6 percent in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, respectively.
