How did the markets close? (May 24, 2024)

The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,784.20 points, down 8.33 points and 0.08 percent.

The BIST 100 index, which saw a low of 10,661.35 points and a high of 10,810.66 points during the day, finished the day at 10,676.65 points, a decrease of 1.07 percent compared to the previous close.

Compared to the previous close, the financial index lost 1.02 percent, the industrial index 0.89 percent, the services index 1.18 percent, and the technology index 1.66 percent.

The BIST 30 index closed at 11,668.54 points, down 143.64 points and 1.22 percent compared to the previous close.

Of the shares included in the BIST 100 index, 27 gained value and 72 declined. Yapı ve Kredi Bankası, Türk Hava Yolları, Ereğli Demir Çelik, Türkiye İş Bankası (C), and Akbank were the most actively traded stocks.

GOLD OUNCE PRICE

The ounce price of gold is trading at 2,333 dollars in international markets as of 18:35. The kilogram price of standard gold in the Borsa Istanbul Gold Market decreased by 2.5 percent to 2 million 405 thousand liras.

In the Borsa Istanbul Bond and Bill Market Outright Purchases and Sales Market, the simple yield of the bond maturing on February 18, 2026, with today's value date, was 38.34 percent, and the compound yield was 42.01 percent.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) announced today's effective exchange rate for the dollar as 32.1227 liras for buying and 32.2514 liras for selling. The TCMB had previously set the effective exchange rate at 32.1196 liras for buying and 32.2483 liras for selling.

In international markets, as of 18:35, the euro/dollar parity is at 1.0850, the sterling/dollar parity is at 1.2740, and the dollar/yen parity is at 156.90.

The barrel price of London Brent crude oil is trading at 81.6 dollars, an increase of 0.5 percent.
