How did the markets close the day? (May 20, 2024)

The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,660.80 points, an increase of 17.22 points and 0.16 percent.

The BIST 100 index, which saw a low of 10,633.93 points and a record high of 10,775.00 points during the day, finished the day at 10,739.57 points, an increase of 0.90 percent compared to the previous close.

Compared to the previous close, the financial index gained 1.33 percent, the industrial index 0.88 percent, and the services index 0.42 percent, while the technology index lost 0.39 percent.

The BIST 30 index closed at 11,688.15 points, with a gain of 125.00 points and 1.08 percent compared to the previous close.

Of the stocks included in the BIST 100 index, 63 gained value and 33 declined. Turkish Airlines, Tüpraş, Ereğli Demir Çelik, Türkiye İş Bankası (C), and Gübre Fabrikaları were the most actively traded stocks.

PRICE OF GOLD PER OUNCE

The price of gold per ounce is trading at 2,424 dollars in international markets as of 18:25. In the Borsa Istanbul Gold Market, the price of a kilogram of standard gold rose by 1.3 percent to 2 million 518 thousand liras.

In the Borsa Istanbul Bond and Bill Market's Outright Purchases and Sales Market, the simple yield of the bond maturing on February 18, 2026, with today's value date, was 38.54 percent, and the compound yield was 42.25 percent.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) announced today's effective exchange rate for the dollar as 32.1335 liras for buying and 32.2622 liras for selling. The CBRT had previously set the effective exchange rate at 32.1715 liras for buying and 32.3004 liras for selling.

In international markets, as of 18:25, the euro/dollar parity is at 1.0860, the sterling/dollar parity is at 1.2710, and the dollar/yen parity is at 156.10.

The price of a barrel of Brent crude oil in international markets is trading at 83.6 dollars, a decrease of 0.1 percent.
