How did the stock market start the day? (April 30, 2024)

At the opening, the BIST 100 index fell by 1.09 points, or 0.01 percent, compared to the previous close, to 10,081.68 points.

The banking index declined by 0.05 percent, while the holding index recorded an increase of 0.03 percent. Among sector indices, financial leasing and factoring was the top gainer with 1.48 percent, while sports was the top loser with 3.40 percent.

Yesterday, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul followed a buying-heavy trend and completed the day with a 1.69 percent increase at 10,082.77 points.

Analysts stated that global equity markets are following a mixed trend as corporate earnings, which have largely come in better than expected during the intensifying earnings season, offset growing concerns that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will keep interest rates at high levels for a longer period.

Analysts, who reported that the foreign trade balance will be monitored domestically today, and retail sales and growth in Germany, preliminary inflation in the Eurozone, and the housing price index and New York Fed consumer confidence index in the US will be followed abroad, noted that technically, the 10,100 and 10,200 levels are resistance, while 10,000 and 9,900 points are support for the BIST 100 index.
